Professional Background

Mehran Najibi, MD, is an anatomic and clinical board-certified pathologist with fellowship training in gastrointestinal, liver and pancreaticobiliary pathology from New York University (NYU Langone Health). He completed his residency at Brown University and received his medical degree at Azad University of Medical Science in Tehran, Iran.

Dr. Najibi has also completed trainings in different areas of pathology in the National Institutes of Health (NIH), Massachusetts General Hospital and UMass Medical School. He has also served as a postdoctoral research fellow at Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School and UMass Medical School, which led to multiple publications in prestigious journals like Immunity, Autophagy, Cell Reports, Scientific Reports, JCI Insight and more.

Early in his career, Dr. Najibi worked as a physician scientist at the Royan Institute and as a general practitioner in different hospitals in Iran.

He is a member of the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), the College of American Pathologists (CAP) and the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology (USCAP).
