Professional Background

Dr. Devbala Patel is board-certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology and Cytopathology by the American Board of Pathology with subspecialty interest in Gastrointestinal Pathology.  She received her undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of Bombay, completing her residency at the University of Texas. She completed fellowship training at Sinai Hospital of Baltimore and Hartford Hospital.

She served as Chair of Eastern Connecticut Health Network’s Institutional Review Committee and has been instrumental in the development of many clinical research programs with ECHN’s medical staff.  Dr. Patel is a fellow of the College of American Pathologists and a member of the American Society of Cytopathology. Her professional interests include gastrointestinal pathology, medical microbiology and issues related to patient safety in biomedical research.
